After an absence of several years (1983's Old Wave had been his last release to date), Ringo surprised everyone by hitting the road for a series of sold-out U.S. concert dates in 1989 and 1990. Keeping with the "With a Little Help from My Friends" aesthetic that produced Ringo's best solo work, the All-Starr Band tour featured appearances by Dr. John, Joe Walsh, Clarence Clemons, Billy Preston, Nils Lofgren, Jim Keltner, and Rick Danko and Levon Helm of the Band. This enjoyable live document does a solid job of capturing the tour's jam-party atmosphere, with most of the guests trading turns at the microphone; Lofgren's wistful "Shine Silently," and Helm and Danko's soulful rendition of "The Weight" are worth the price of admission in themselves. In the early 1960s, Ringo Starr, well known for his easygoing personality, became a legend as a member of The Beatles. In part, Starr's playing shaped rock n' roll for decades to come, as he kept the beat with his sharp, aggressive style behind the kit. As a result of the goodwill and fortune he earned as a Beatle, he was loved around the world and welcomed wherever he went. Even though he was the guy who could sing "Yellow Submarine" and get blisters on his fingers during "Helter Skelter," his success and status didn't protect him from the unseemly, upsetting, and depressing side of life. Although Starr has had more than his fair share of darkness and bad luck, he has been an honourable person through his contributions to music and charities.

A conversation between Ringo Starr and The Eurythmics's Dave Stewart. Ringo talks about the early days and how he came into the band without an audition. Then the discussion turns to Beatlemania, and then Ringo plays Beatles songs on the drum kit.
